Vinous 91 points - Full ruby. Spice- and mineral-accented aromas of fresh red berries and candied flowers, with a hint of smokiness coming up slowly. Silky and sweet in the mouth, offering vibrant raspberry and cherry flavors and a touch of spicecake. Smooths out nicely on the finish, which features gentle tannins and an echo of floral pastilles.
Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape is also quite good, but comes up short on depth and richness. Exhibiting plenty of darker fruits, tobacco leaf and hints of olive, it’s medium-bodied, elegant and supple, with mid-weight aromas and flavors. Drink it over the coming 5-6 years. (Oct 2014)
Wine Spectator 92 points - Lush, with velvety fig, blackberry and black cherry fruit flavors layered with warm ganache, black licorice and fruitcake notes. Offers a polished feel through the finish, revealing some latent briary grip. Best from 2015 through 2025.J.M. (Aug 20 2014)
