E-mail this item from The Wine ClubBodegas Felix Callejo Crianza 2005 Tinto Fino is the native Tempranillo grape variety found in Ribera del Duero. The variety is structured, elegant and complex, giving rise to high quality wines. Clear sunshine during the day and cool night-time temperatures are the ingredients that yield these healthy, rich colored grapes packed with sugars and fragrant acidity. The Tinto Fino variety has adapted wellto the altitude and climate of Ribera del Duero. The vines are planted at almost 2800 feet, some of the highest planted in the region, and don't receive any artificial irrigation. No pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used in the Estate. Wine Spectator This modern red marries cocoa-dusted oak with ripe fruit flavors of blackberry and black cherry, along with the mineral and light earthy notes typical of the region. Well-structured but accessible now. Drink now through 2015. It has an expressive perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, and assorted black fruits. Medium to full-bodied, layered, and spicy, this nicely balanced, lengthy wine will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2015. Score: 91. —Jay Miller, February 2008.
