An off-dry red wine. The healthiest, ripest bunches undergo a long drying process (Appassimento) that take place, on mats in a well naturally ventilated loft. The grapes lose up to 35% of their original weight thereby concentrating sugar, aromatic compounds and noble tannins. In January grapes are gently crushed and fermentation starts at low temperature(13-17 C). 12-15 days of skin-must maceration at 20 to 26 °C in stainless steel tanks of 100 Hl capacity. Regular remontages (twice a day). The wine is racked into French oak barrels of 350, 500 and 2000 litres. Assemblages in stainless steel tanks of 100 to 200 Hl capacity. Elevage in oak barrels of 350 lt (8 months), 500 lt (10 months) and large oak casks of 20 Hl (6 months).
Wine Enthusiast
Members of the Pasqua family bought this historic property (with an adorable bed & breakfast) and founded a new wine estate in 1995. Since then, Musella has emerged as one of the best Amarone producers outside the Classico zone. This wine delivers incredible intensity and purity of aromas: Distinct notes of coffee, cherry and roasted nut comprise a compact and clean presentation. It’s chewy, sweet with a velvety, soft texture in the mouth.
Score: 93.
