Montes Alpha Syrah 2004
Of intense ruby red color, it has a great aroma with floral, tobacco and leathery notes. Strong and full bodied to the palate, with soft and mature tannins. A very long, elegant and satisfying after taste. A superb Syrah.
Chilean Syrah’s have been any area of interest for wine lovers all over the World. The wine has been well received by Wine Spectator earning 91 points. This wine is a combo of new world and old world style. The nose has deep cassis and chocolate flavors. The tannins are very soft and lush. On the palate it shows ripe cherry and oak. The finish has a slight touch of earth and the fruit tends to linger. This wine has a great balance of acidity and body, making a versatile wine. So versatile that it pairs well with anything from a light crab cake appetizer to a heavy rib eye bathed in a brandy sauce. Wine Spectator
Lovely aromas of black cherry confiture and freshly shaved vanilla bean lead to a ripe, supple palate of cassis, plum and mineral, shaded deftly with a dash of spicy toast. Shows nice grip. Drink now through 2008. 19,000 cases made.

Wine Enthusiast
Syrah seems to be the new signature grape at Montes, and this high-end example rocks due to round, roasted aromas of earth, coffee and black fruit as well as blackberry, plum and clove flavors. A firm, deep wine with a lot going on. For Chilean Syrah it's quite the mover and shaker.
